The Commercial Law Department of the University of Alicante, within the framework of the Magister Lvcentinvs, Master of Intellectual Property and Digital Innovation of the University of Alicante, organizes the IV INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS, which will take place next 26 and 27 May 2020 at the University of Alicante (University Headquarters located at 40 San Fernando Street, Alicante city centre).
This international seminar has been created to provide a specialized forum for debate on the legal regime applicable to appellations of origin and geographical indications. To this end, the seminar counts with the participation of national and foreign academics from prestigious universities, members of national and foreign institutions, dedicated to the protection of appellations of origin and geographical indications and experts from the different competent organizations in this area. It is highlighted the participation of the Spanish General Directorate of Food Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and Food, the General Directorate of Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the National Institute of Intellectual Property of Portugal (INPI), as well as associations such as the International Association of Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications (oriGIn), Associations Origen España, the Spanish Association of Wine Regulatory Councils (CECRV), Regulatory Councils such as Alicante wines PDO, Tequila PDO, Manchego PDO, judges and renown lawyers in this field.
Language: the seminar will be held in Spanish and English.
